I'm running OSX 10.6 with Max 5.
How do I set it up for 2 Axis?
Audio Midi Setup & Max Midi Setup seem to only see one of them, although I'm able to make sounds with both.

Hmmm. no one has mentioned a problem with 2 axii on a mac - generally midi device handling on a mac is much better, I gather, and I recall that someone said 2 worked fine for them. The units must be plugged in before max starts

In my 2-device tweaker program, running on XP/Win7, the default (I haven't determined how to change this) on the two separate notein objects is to read the "All Devices by Channel". Since the Axis-49's are hard-wired to mark all notes channel "1" the sounds blend.

If you double-click on one of the NoteIn objects, it should pop-up with a list of the Midi-in objects it sees. What do you see listed?
I usually see all the currently plugged in instruments, and can chose one to be read by that Notein object.

Hi,
This is a problem with the operating system (or Max/MSP), not the Axis units, which are simply just mid devices. I would guess that the operating system (or max) is confused by two midi controllers with the same name. Unfortunately, this won't be of much comfort to you. What exact level of operating system do you have? does other midi software see one or two units? if any of them see two, then it is max. If not, it is likely the operating system.

One fix would be if we could set one of the Axis units to switch to send to "channel 2" - this would also be very handy for anyone that wants their two axii to just work when plugged in during set up. Right now I have to manually mouse the noteins and select which keyboard goes to what side/channel. It would be much nicer if the keyboards knew which one was which. I'll ask Andrew for this - but think it very unlikely that he can grant it soon.

I would google for other mac users that have this problem. There may be a fair number with 2 simular keyboards that have run into this problem. They may have a fix.

Hmmm. You're up to date, operating system wise.
I see nothing in Google about 2 keyboards on the mac.
Try plugging one in later, (when I dunno), to force the op system to treat them as differnent.

It will only work with two at a time if your running them over Re-Wire, if anyone is new to this head over to http://www.propellerheads.se/products/r ... cle=rewire and I'm sure you'll get that running.
Altering the code isn't that difficult, you can download a demo of Max and have a go, but I'm not going to do anymore work to this beacause it does everything I need it to do, but everyone is welcome to the code just e-mail me for it and I'll get it sent to you. --> rossmoylan@aol.com

Please post the code on github so it will be tracked and public.

It would be a shame for your work to go missing.
